About EBNP

The East Bank Neighborhoods Partnership (EBNP) is a nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods of Dinkytown/Marcy-Holmes, Nicollet Island, East Bank, Southeast Como, University and Mid-City Industrial. We connect residents, businesses, and institutions through programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen safety, sustainability, and community connection.

Position Overview

The Community Outreach + Engagement Coordinator is responsible for engagement and program implementation across EBNP neighborhoods. This role focuses on building relationships with residents, renters, students, businesses, and property owners and translating those relationships into participation in EBNP programs and events. Most of the work occurs in the community through face-to-face meetings, outreach visits, events, and neighborhood gatherings. Digital communications and social media are supporting tools that amplify engagement work — they do not replace in-person outreach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Planning + Implementation

Support the planning and execution of EBNP community events:

  • Assist with logistics, volunteer coordination, and on-site support

  • Represent EBNP at events and outreach opportunities

  • Document and report participation and outcomes

Communications Support

  • Provide content for newsletters, website, and social media

  • Promote events, social hours, and programs

  • Document outreach activities and program progress

Bi-Weekly Community Social Hours

Maintain a consistent, visible neighborhood presence:

  • Host bi-weekly in-person social hours at rotating neighborhood coffee shops

  • Meet residents, renters, students, and stakeholders

  • Gather feedback on neighborhood priorities and projects

  • Recruit volunteers and committee participants

Monthly Community Zoom Engagement Sessions

Provide accessible virtual engagement opportunities:

  • Host one Zoom community meeting each month

  • Share updates and gather feedback

  • Connect participants to volunteer and engagement opportunities

Performance Expectations

Success in this role is measured primarily by:

  • Relationships developed and maintained

  • Participation generated in EBNP programs

  • Events and engagement activities executed

Required Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Comfortable initiating conversations and conducting outreach

  • Ability to work independently and proactively

  • Excellent organization and follow-through

  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends for events

  • Reliable transportation for neighborhood travel (transit Users + bicyclists are strongly encouraged to apply, but keep in mind you may have to transport event materials)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in community engagement, nonprofit work, or outreach

  • Familiarity with Minneapolis neighborhoods and community organizations

  • Event planning or volunteer coordination experience

  • Experience working with small businesses or property owners

Work Environment

  • Combination of field work, meetings, events, and remote work

  • Regular evening and occasional weekend activities required

  • Significant time spent walking neighborhoods and visiting businesses
