Free Trees Available Through Minneapolis City Trees Program
Looking for a simple way to make a lasting impact on your neighborhood? The City of Minneapolis is offering residents the opportunity to receive a free tree through its City Trees Program, and local Tree Ambassadors are helping connect community members to this exciting initiative.
The goal of the program is to expand Minneapolis' urban tree canopy, improve neighborhood livability, and encourage residents and renters to become active stewards of the city's trees. Participants can choose from a variety of tree species that are well-suited to Minneapolis neighborhoods.
Residents who register now may be eligible for full-service tree planting this fall. Once fall planting capacity is reached, additional participants will be scheduled for planting next spring. Businesses are also eligible to participate for a small contribution of $30 per tree.
Trees provide numerous benefits to our neighborhoods, including cleaner air, reduced stormwater runoff, lower summer temperatures, wildlife habitat, increased property values, and more beautiful streets and public spaces.
When registering, please select "Tree Ambassador" when asked how you learned about the program. Jill Griffiths, a longtime Marcy-Holmes resident, serves as our area's Tree Ambassador. Please choose Jill when prompted for by the available dropdown list.
