Dinkytown Pedestrian/Bicycle Improvement Project to begin week of July 6th

The City of Minneapolis is planning a series of pedestrian, bicycle, and street improvements in Dinkytown designed to make the area safer, more accessible, and more comfortable for people walking, biking, and driving. Planned upgrades include new pedestrian medians, curb extensions, improved intersection safety features, and the construction of an all-ages-and-abilities bikeway. More than 50 curb ramps will also be replaced or upgraded to meet ADA accessibility standards, with curb ramp and pedestrian improvement work expected to begin in 2026.

In 2028, the City will resurface the project streets with a new layer of asphalt pavement, extending the life of the roadway for at least another decade. Overall, the project is intended to reduce vehicle speeds, improve safety for all roadway users, and ensure that public infrastructure is accessible to people of all abilities.

Below is a copy of the letter, dated June 8th, that is being mailed to residents and business owners within the Dinkytown neighborhood.
