Como Residents: Host an Air Sensor
The City of Minneapolis has a network of 60 PurpleAir air sensors placed throughout Minneapolis. They are installed outside of homes, schools, and businesses throughout. The sensors measure air quality in real time. The Health Department’s goal is to have at least one PurpleAir sensor placed in every neighborhood. It will help us better understand overall air quality in Minneapolis and how air quality varies by neighborhood.
We are looking for people to host a PurpleAir sensor who live in the Como neighborhood:
To host a PurpleAir sensor, you need:
A reliable WiFi network that we can connect the sensor to. Sensors must be connected to WiFi to report data to the PurpleAir real-time map
Access to an outdoor power outlet. Sensors must be connected to power to report data.
If you live in Como and are interested in hosting a PurpleAir sensor, please fill out the PurpleAir sensor host interest form:
Please contact Austin Rimer at Austin.Rimer@minneapolismn.gov or Lucy Shapiro at Lucy.Shapiro@minneapolismn.gov if you have any questions.
