Community invited to attend municipal consent hearing in Minneapolis on August 20

Community members are invited to attend an upcoming public hearing as part of the municipal consent process in Minneapolis for the Central Ave. Northeast project from University Ave. to 37th Ave.

The public hearing will be held as part of the Climate and Infrastructure Committee Meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Thu, Aug. 20, at Minneapolis City Hall, Room 380 located at 350 South 5th St. in Minneapolis.

The Municipal Consent public hearing is part of the formal approval process for the Minneapolis City Council to formally approve or reject the design plans for Central Ave. Northeast. The public can voice their opinions about the project at the public hearing. The road layout will also be available for viewing at the meeting. 

There will be a presentation about the Central Ave. Northeast project, followed by an opportunity for the public to provide verbal comments.

With municipal consent, the project moves into the next phase of design.

More about this project

MnDOT is collaborating with local agencies and the public to create a new road design for Central Ave. Northeast (Hwy 65) between University Ave. and I-694. As a part of this project, they are working closely with Metro Transit on the integration of the METRO F-Line, a planned bus rapid transit line that will provide improved transit service on the Route 10 corridor.  

Construction is scheduled to start in spring 2028 in Columbia Heights and the Minneapolis segment starting in 2029.
