On May 20, 2025, the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) placed the property, known as the Lane House, under interim protection and directed the planning director to prepare or cause to be prepared a designation study. Interim protection expired on May 20, 2026. The HPC will now consider the designation study of the Lane House.
