Her department applies public health approaches to reduce crime and focuses on transparency and communication with the public. Learn more: minneapolismn.gov/departments/neighborhoodsafety.
2nd Precinct Inspector Nick Torborg addressed the rise in juvenile crimes involving smashing car windows and stealing contents. Often these crimes are discovered hours later. In such cases, reports should be filed through 311 or the MPD e-report system. If crimes are witnessed in progress, residents should call 911 immediately so police can respond. While MPD policies prohibit vehicle pursuits except in violent crime cases, officers remain committed to stopping these destructive sprees. Encouragingly, violent crime overall is down.
